The Capaul team: quality is guaranteed by 90 people! Creative minds with a wealth of expertise guarantee high-level precision work across our 6,000 m² production area – 2,000 m² of which is air-conditioned. Of course, all our products are manufactured strictly in accordance with any specifications, complying with the most stringent test criteria and monitored in accordance with ISO EN9100:2016. Located in Eupen, in east Belgium, our family-run company is right on the doorstep of the industrial regions of Liège, Maastricht and Cologne.

OUR HISTORY

  • Eugène Graf founds the company EUGENE GRAF & CIE – a “Fabrique de scies à métaux et outils” (manufacturer of hacksaws and tools) in Hütte, a district in Eupen.

    1868
  • The Eupen entrepreneurs, Herbert and Käthe Rom, become the new owners – business converted into a public limited company.

    1973
  • GRAF & CIE becomes “Werkzeugfabrik Capaul” (from Capellmann-Paulus) – the business is now owned by Erich Capellmann, born 30/08/1903 in Düsseldorf and married to Maria Christine Paulus.

    1929
  • Taken over by Anne Rom and Ludwig Henkes. At this point, the company employs 12 shop-floor workers, 1 office worker and 3 apprentices.

    1988
  • New building in the industrial zone on Eupen’s Herbesthalerstrasse. Entire production relocated to modern production halls.

    1995
  • Hall 2 commissioned.

    2000
  • All company shares acquired by Henkes & Co KG-SCS.

    1997
  • Hall 3 commissioned.

    2003
  • ISO certification EN 9100:2003 covering precision mechanics, tool manufacture and production of electro-mechanical machines.

    2004
  • Recertification in accordance with EN 9104 standards and the EN9100 V 2003 reference systems.

    2007
  • Ludwig Henkes becomes the chairperson of the Eupen-Malmedy-St.Vith General Employers’ Association.

    2005
  • Fully air-conditioned hall commissioned with an area of 1,500 m² and a temperature of 20°C +/- 0.5°C.

    2010
  • Air-conditioned production area expanded from 1,500 to 2,000 m².

    2017
  • €4 million investment in machinery.

    2018-2019
  • Recertification in accordance with EN 9100:2016 standards.
